Rightmove launches new AI tool for property comparison

Rightmove has introduced a new AI-powered Comparison Assistant, developed with Google Gemini, allowing buyers and renters to compare properties side-by-side and ask questions about homes and local areas.

  • The new Comparison Assistant enables users to compare multiple properties and ask questions beyond standard search filters.
  • The tool draws on information from estate and letting agents, Rightmove's property data, Google Maps, Experian schools data, and Land Registry records.
  • Rightmove states that its existing AI search tools have led to users spending 40% longer on the portal and generating around twice as many agent leads.

Rightmove has expanded its use of artificial intelligence with the launch of a new Comparison Assistant. Developed using Google Gemini, this tool is designed to help buyers and renters compare properties directly within search results.

The new feature allows users to compare multiple listings without navigating between individual pages. It also enables them to ask specific questions, such as which home is better for hybrid working or has more family-friendly features. Users can also set their own comparison criteria, including nearby schools, transport links, and home-working facilities.

The Comparison Assistant integrates data from estate and letting agents, Rightmove's own property information, Google Maps, Experian schools data, and Land Registry records. Rightmove claims its existing AI search tools have already increased user engagement, with users of its Ask Rightmove Search Assistant spending 40% longer on the portal and generating approximately twice as many leads for agents.

This latest tool is the third in Rightmove's Ask Rightmove programme, following the AI Search Assistant launched in February and the Evaluation Assistant in July. The Comparison Assistant will initially be available to a limited group of users before a wider rollout.

Why this matters: The development could make property descriptions and individual selling points more prominent during the search process for agents.

What this means for you: If you are a buyer or renter, this new tool could make your property search more efficient by allowing you to compare homes and local areas directly and ask specific questions.
