A family's visit to a classic car show at Tatton Park, Cheshire, on Saturday afternoon descended into a distressing road rage incident, leaving a mother and her young children shaken. The Liverpool family, including six-month-old twins and a 13-year-old, were reportedly targeted by a man who became aggressive after the family's car did not immediately pull over to let him pass.
The mother, identified as Olivia, recounted the 'terrifying' ordeal, stating that the man was speeding before the confrontation escalated. Dashcam footage, captured around 3:00 PM BST on Saturday, reportedly shows the man repeatedly braking in front of the family's vehicle before stopping, exiting his van, and then allegedly banging on the driver's window and ripping off the door handle.
Olivia described her children 'screaming in fear' during the incident. She expressed her devastation at what her family endured, emphasising that no family should feel unsafe in their own car due to another person's actions. The incident has been formally reported to Cheshire Police, who have confirmed they are investigating.
The van involved in the incident was associated with portable toilet firm Instant Loos and Event Hire. A spokesperson for the company promptly issued an apology, stating that the behaviour displayed 'falls way below the standards of professionalism and respect' expected. The firm confirmed that the subcontractor involved would no longer be working for them, underscoring their commitment to road safety and public conduct.
Cheshire Police confirmed that during the altercation, a man exited his vehicle to confront the other driver, resulting in the driver's side door handle being ripped off. The man then left the scene. Enquiries into the incident are continuing as officers work to establish the full circumstances and identify those involved.
