England bowlers Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue each claimed five wickets on day one of the Test match against Pakistan at Headingley. This marks the first time in 20 years that two England bowlers have achieved five-wicket hauls in the same innings.
Pakistan were dismissed for 171, with Robinson initiating the wickets with an lbw on the first ball of the morning. Tongue finished with figures of five for 46, marginally better than Robinson's.
The pair decided to split the match ball as a souvenir, sending it to the groundstaff to be cut in half. England closed the day on 112 for two, with captain Joe Root unbeaten on 37, reducing the deficit to 59 runs.
Robinson, who had been absent from the England team for over two-and-a-half years due to conditioning concerns and a knee complaint, expressed his determination to maintain his place in the squad after working closely with the England medical team.
