Rocky Flintoff's One-Day Cup campaign concludes with 315 runs

Rocky Flintoff, 18, finished his One-Day Cup campaign with 315 runs at an average of 63, following his first senior century earlier in the week.

  • Rocky Flintoff scored 315 runs at an average of 63 in eight One-Day Cup matches.
  • He hit his first senior century, scoring 123 against Somerset, earlier this week.
  • Lancashire coach Steven Croft suggested a return to the County Championship XI for Flintoff may be imminent.

Rocky Flintoff's One-Day Cup campaign concluded on Friday with 22 runs in Lancashire's knockout stage defeat by Durham. The 18-year-old finished the competition with 315 runs across eight matches, averaging 63.

His performance included a headline-grabbing first senior century, a brutal 123 against Somerset on Tuesday. Lancashire coach Steven Croft praised Flintoff's conduct, stating, "The way he has carried himself in this competition has been brilliant."

Croft also suggested that a return to Lancashire's County Championship XI, where Flintoff would face higher quality bowlers, might not be far off. Flintoff has not played in the County Championship since 2024.

Former England coach David 'Bumble' Lloyd has called for Flintoff to be "fast tracked" into the international set-up, saying, "I think he's an international cricketer." Flintoff, an all-rounder, has been unable to bowl competitively since his Under-16 days due to bone stress issues, though there is hope this could change by next summer.
