The City of Light was ablaze with rock 'n' roll fervour as The Rolling Stones unleashed the magic of their 25th studio album, 'Foreign Tongues', upon the world. And what a launch it was – a dazzling display of fireworks in the sky and a star-studded soiree that lit up the night, leaving London's glitterati green with envy!
The Thames became the catwalk for an awe-inspiring aerial spectacle as 500 drones formed the band's iconic tongue logo above some of London's most famous landmarks – the London Eye and Big Ben gazing on in wonder. It was a visual masterclass, set to the infectious beats of 'In The Stars', which had the crowd wowed and wanting more. Patrick Woodroffe, the brains behind this dazzling display, described it as a fitting tribute to an album born in the heart of London – and boy, did he nail it!
But that was just the warm-up act; next came the main event at St. Clement hotel, where Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood welcomed the A-listers – Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, Sam Fender, Sacha Baron Cohen, John McEnroe, and Vernon Kay – for an intimate bash that promised to rock 'n' roll all night long! And they didn't disappoint, with a surprise live performance by Jagger and Wood, joined by Matt Clifford on keyboards, serving up the album track 'Ringing Hollow'.
Get ready to devour 'Foreign Tongues', set for release tomorrow (July 10) via Polydor/Universal Music – it's an absolute belter! Produced by Andrew Watt, who worked magic on their last album 'Hackney Diamonds', this 14-track record was recorded in just under a month at Metropolis Studios. The guest list reads like a Who's Who of rock royalty: Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, Steve Winwood, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith – not to mention posthumous contributions from the one and only Charlie Watts.
The road to 'Foreign Tongues' began back in April with a sultry teaser under their secret pseudonym, The Cockroaches. But that was just the beginning: singles 'Rough And Twisted', 'In The Stars', 'Jealous Lover', and 'Divine Intervention' (feat. Robert Smith on guitar) have all been unveiled – and let's not forget the six-part podcast series, 'Speaking In Tongues', narrated by Norah Jones, featuring new interviews with Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Charlie Watts.
