On-loan defender Ronald Araujo has indicated it is too early to consider his long-term future at Liverpool, despite expressing happiness at the club. The former Barcelona captain, a surprise summer addition, has quickly become the first-choice right-back, even though he prefers playing centrally.
Liverpool holds a £47m option to purchase the Uruguay international. However, whether the club will exercise this option for a player turning 28 in March remains a subject of debate.
Araujo stated, “It’s very early to talk about these things. I’m just trying to enjoy every day, continue to grow and develop every day to have that confidence.” He added that he and his family are “really happy to be here.”
The defender has adapted swiftly to the Premier League, becoming a fan favourite. His versatility is particularly valued, with Jeremie Frimpong joining Conor Bradley on the injury list. Araujo is set to start for Liverpool in their Champions League home tie against Villarreal on Tuesday, having already contributed a goal and an assist in the competition's league phase.
