The Royal Ballet's new production, 'The McRae/Vassilev Project', is currently being staged at the Linbury Theatre in London. Directed by Natalie Abrahami and choreographed by Loughlan Prior, the performance brings together Royal Opera House dancer Steven McRae and violinist Vasko Vassilev.
The production is described as an encounter between these two performers, intertwined with the figure of Niccolò Paganini. The first half includes Vassilev playing Bach, followed by a pas de deux featuring McRae and Sarah Lamb. This section also delves into the backstories of McRae and Vassilev, using old photos, videos, and demonstrations of their skills.
The second half sees the performers return as 'devilish Paganinis'. McRae incorporates tap dance, while Vassilev focuses on playing Paganini. The show is running until September 19.
