England stars Alessia Russo and Alex Greenwood have been named among the 30 nominees for the women's Ballon d'Or. They are the only Lionesses to make the shortlist for the prestigious award.
Arsenal forward Russo, who finished third in last year's voting, enjoyed a successful individual campaign, scoring 24 goals in 40 club appearances. Manchester City captain Greenwood lifted both the Women's Super League and FA Cup last season.
The award, celebrating its 70th anniversary, will announce its winner at a ceremony in London on 26 October. This venue choice is a tribute to former England player Sir Stanley Matthews, who won the first Ballon d'Or.
Scotland's Caroline Weir, who joined Lyon in June from Real Madrid, also made the shortlist after scoring 20 goals in all competitions for the Spanish side.
