Ryan Garcia is set to defend his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn in Las Vegas on Saturday. The main-event contest at T-Mobile Arena pits two fighters who have both returned adverse drug-test results in the last four years.
Garcia won the WBC welterweight belt in May. His previous victory against Devin Haney was reversed after he failed a drug test, leading to a one-year ban.
Benn, the challenger, enters the fight with back-to-back points wins over Regis Prograis and Chris Eubank Jr. He was provisionally suspended from boxing in the UK after failing two drug tests in summer 2022, though he maintained his innocence and was cleared to box in the UK again in late 2024. This weekend marks Benn's first fight at 147lb in two-and-a-half years.
