Samuel J Herlihy, known from Hope Of The States, has unveiled his latest solo single, 'Insignificance', through an innovative text-based adventure game. This release follows his announcement last year of a solo career and the drop of his first single, 'The Entire Span of Human Existence'.

Herlihy's debut solo album, 'Poltergeist', is slated for an October release. He previously hinted that the album would be self-produced and recorded on the same cassette used for his first songs at age 13.

The new track, 'Insignificance', begins with an instrumental melody before building to a chorus featuring fuzz-dominated guitars. While currently exclusive to the text-based game, a digital release is planned for a later date.

Herlihy shared that the song includes a nod to Jim O'Rourke's record 'Insignificance' and that many album tracks are about the music of other bands and their importance to him. 'Poltergeist' will be available on edition white vinyl, with a Rough Trade-exclusive baby blue vinyl and a 'The Exorcist' CD featuring additional tracks and live versions from a 2025 gig.
