Samsung Electronics expects its operating profit for the quarter ending September to reach 107.4tn won (£61bn; $80bn), a nine-fold increase compared to the previous year. This projected figure would represent the company's fourth consecutive quarter of record earnings.
The tech giant attributes this significant rise to surging global demand for memory chips, which are crucial components in artificial intelligence (AI) data centres. Samsung is a major global producer of these chips, alongside rivals such as SK Hynix and Micron.
Samsung also anticipates a boost from its latest folding devices, which were launched in August. The company's full third-quarter earnings report is scheduled for release at the end of October.
