A one-acre plot on the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula, described as potentially the last undeveloped chunk of land, is estimated to be worth up to £20m. The property, which includes a staff cottage, a tennis court, and a beach house, is held in a family trust with over 100 members.
Local historian Jeremy Waters, who arrived in Sandbanks as a boy in the 1950s, said the Andreae family first rented a cottage there in 1919. Dr Edward Andreae then began acquiring parcels of land and building homes for his eight children.
Waters, speaking to Radio Solent's Steve Harris, believes the family trust will not sell the land, which remains a focal point for family meetings in August.
