It's a new era at Goodison Park, and what an exciting one it is! Scott Phelan has been handed the keys to the castle as permanent boss of the Toffees' Women's team. The 38-year-old midfielder-turned-manager took the reins on a temporary basis back in February after Brian Sorensen was shown the door, and boy did he make a statement!
Phelan kicked off his interim spell with three successive WSL wins, transforming the team's fortunes from also-rans to contenders. He coaxed the Toffees from being just four points adrift of rock bottom to finishing an impressive eighth in the Women's Super League – and he's only just getting started.
The Everton legend has come full circle, rising through the academy ranks without making a senior appearance for the club he loves. And now, with Phil Jevons by his side as trusted right-hand man, Phelan is set to take the team on a thrilling journey towards the top end of the table – where it belongs!
'To have this chance to lead our women's team is a dream come true,' said Phelan, beaming with pride. 'We're hungry for more and we won't rest until we get back among the top six – and stay there.'
