The Scottish FA has decided to scrap its independent panel responsible for reviewing major refereeing decisions in the Premiership. This voluntary three-man key match incidents (KMI) panel, which included former players and a club representative, had been providing weekly verdicts since 2024 in an effort to enhance transparency.
Dundee United withdrew their representation in February last year, expressing concerns about the panel's "purpose, effectiveness and impact on Scottish football." It is also believed that other clubs opted to withdraw this season.
Separate to the KMI panel, SFA head of refereeing Willie Collum will continue to provide monthly video explanations of key decisions in his VAR Review Show on the Scottish FA's YouTube channel. Collum will also maintain meetings with captains and managers, which are considered a more useful method for discussing incidents.
