The Subsidy Advice Unit (SAU) has accepted a request from Transport Scotland to evaluate its proposed Scottish Zero Emission Truck Fund Scheme. This scheme, known as ScotZET, is intended to facilitate the mass transition to zero-emission Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and support workforce development and economic growth.
The ScotZET Fund has an overall size of up to £240 million. It is particularly designed to assist Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) within Scotland's haulage sector in preparing for the shift to zero-emission transport.
Funding will be allocated through a competitive process over a three-year period, from 2027 to 2028 and 2029 to 2030. Only consortia are eligible to apply, which must include at least one private finance provider and four HGV operators. These operators must provide services to, from, or within Scotland, and the vehicles and infrastructure must be based in Scotland for the project's duration.
Applications for funding must cover both the deployment of zero-emission HGVs and the necessary supporting energy infrastructure. There is no fixed limit on the amount of funding an individual consortium may receive.
