Norfolk Police's ongoing investigation into the alleged rape of two teenage girls on Great Yarmouth's South Beach Parade has taken another significant step forward with the charging of a second suspect. The disturbing incident, which occurred in the early hours of 16 May, has left the community reeling and raised concerns about public safety.
Dawid Wlach, 35, of Dover Court, Caister-on-Sea, faces multiple charges including rape, oral rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault. Born in Poland, Mr Wlach appeared at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre on Saturday, 18 July, before being conditionally bailed.
This development follows the previous charge of Madalin Ilinca, 34, of Suffolk Place, Great Yarmouth, a Romanian national who faces counts of rape, sexual assault, and sexual assault by penetration. Mr Ilinca has been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The alleged offences took place around 00:30 BST on 16 May on South Beach Parade, with the police subsequently launching a manhunt to identify and apprehend those involved. Community leaders have expressed concern about the incident's impact on local residents, particularly children and families who frequent the area.
Both Mr Wlach and Mr Ilinca are scheduled to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday, 28 July, for a plea and trial preparation hearing as part of the ongoing legal proceedings. The case has sparked widespread discussion about safety measures in public spaces and the need for community vigilance.
