Sellafield Ltd and its supply chain partners have collectively raised £162,500 for Cumberland Council’s Enrichment Fund. This funding is dedicated to supporting care-experienced young people aged 16 and over.

The Enrichment Fund, managed by Cumbria Youth Alliance, aims to support wellbeing, education, training, and employment. Young people can utilise the funds for professional courses, work-related expenses like interview clothing, gym memberships, and creative activities.

Sellafield’s Programme and Project Partners (PPP), which include KBR, Amentum, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, and Altrad Babcock, contributed £50,000, with Sellafield Ltd matching this donation. Additional contributions came from a wider group of supply chain partners.

Steve Harnwell, Sellafield Ltd interim projects director, stated that the fundraising campaign was inspired by the 'Rising As Me' event, where care-experienced young people shared their experiences. Emma Williamson, Deputy Leader of Cumberland Council, highlighted that the support helps young people overcome barriers and build confidence.

Why this matters: The funding provides crucial support for care-experienced young people, helping them access opportunities for education, training, and employment.
