David Johnston, a senior director who spent 21 years at Savills in Sevenoaks, has joined the self-employed brokerage Moveli. Johnston was a director in Savills' country sales team and has over 23 years of estate agency experience, primarily in the Sevenoaks market.
His move involves establishing his own business under the Moveli brand, departing from the traditional agency model. This change comes as self-employed agencies are increasing their presence in the UK residential market.
Data from TwentyEA, supplied by Moveli, indicates that self-employed agents held 2.5% of the market share in 2026 to date. This figure marks an 18.6% rise compared to 2025. Moveli currently has a network of more than 100 agents, focusing mainly on the upper end of the residential market.
In other industry news, Landstones has appointed Mo Kanso as managing director to strengthen its management team. Kanso, formerly of Draker Lettings, will focus on developing Landstones' presence in its core markets, particularly SW6.
Additionally, Norton Rose Fulbright has hired Simon Woodcock as a partner in its London real estate practice. Woodcock joins from Goodwin Procter, bringing experience in various transactional real estate matters across multiple property sectors.
