Tennis icon Serena Williams has been spotted putting in practice at Wimbledon's Aorangi Park ahead of her highly anticipated grand slam return. The 44-year-old, widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, took to the courts alongside her two daughters, Olympia and Adira, on Thursday.
Williams has been given a wild card into the women's doubles at Wimbledon, where she will partner with her sister Venus. The sisters won their last 14 grand slam doubles titles together at Wimbledon a decade ago, and have not played a match as a partnership since 2022.
Williams made a successful comeback to competitive tennis last week, winning her first contest at Queen's Club alongside Victoria Mboko before the Canadian's unfortunate injury curtailed their run. She then headed to Berlin but suffered a first-round loss at the WTA Tour event playing with Karolina Muchova.
The sight of Williams practising at Wimbledon will likely bring back memories of her illustrious career, which has seen her win 23 grand slam singles titles and 14 grand slam doubles titles. While she may not be as dominant on the court as she once was, Williams remains an iconic figure in the world of tennis and a source of inspiration for young players.
