Homes in the High Green area of Sheffield have been evacuated after bomb disposal experts were called to a house on Mapplebeck Road. South Yorkshire Police established a 100m (328ft) cordon around the property.
The action was taken after a discovery was made during a forensic search at the scene, which had been ongoing since Friday. Police stated it was "deemed necessary to evacuate nearby properties to enable emergency services and specialists to ensure safety."
The incident follows a 36-year-old woman being charged under the Explosive Substances Act on Monday. Road closures are in effect on Mapplebeck Road and several surrounding streets. No injuries have been reported, and other emergency services are present as a precaution. Evacuated residents have been directed to a nearby rest centre at Thorncliffe Football Fields for support.
