Six UK regions are bracing themselves for a wet Wednesday as the Met Office issues its latest forecast. From Scotland's west Highlands to East Anglia, the rain will bring varying intensities of precipitation throughout the day, with some areas potentially seeing heavier showers.
In Scotland, residents in the west and central Highlands are warned to expect rain, which could turn into more sustained downpours in localised spots. Northern Ireland is also set for a drenched Wednesday, particularly in its northern and western counties, where damp conditions and reduced visibility on roads will be a concern.
England's North West, encompassing Cumbria and parts of Lancashire, is predicted to experience rainfall, while the South West – including Cornwall and Devon – will see isolated showers. Additionally, central eastern areas may also receive some scattered showers, though these are likely to be lighter and more intermittent. East Anglia completes the list of regions facing rain.
Temperatures across these affected regions will remain relatively mild for the time of year. In Scotland and Northern Ireland, temperatures could range from 9 to 12 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, England's rain-hit areas can expect temperatures between 10 and 14 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds are generally forecast to be moderate, but stronger gusts may accompany heavier showers.
The Met Office advises people to stay informed about local forecasts, especially in areas prone to surface water flooding. While severe weather warnings are not currently issued for these specific rain events, localised heavy downpours could still cause temporary disruption. Travellers should check road conditions and allow extra time for journeys.
