The Steeple Renewables Project, a proposed solar farm in Nottinghamshire, has been granted development consent by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The project is designed to include approximately 450MW of solar energy generation and a 150MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Steeple Solar Farm Limited submitted the application to the Planning Inspectorate on 14 May 2025, with the examination commencing on 11 June 2025. Following a six-month examination period, during which local communities, statutory consultees, and interested parties provided evidence, recommendations were made to the Secretary of State on 10 July 2026.
Baroness Curran made the decision on behalf of the Energy Secretary's legal authority. This marks the 115th energy application out of 183 examined by the Planning Inspectorate to date, completed within the statutory timescale set by the Planning Act 2008.
