Stella McCartney used her Paris Fashion Week show to highlight sea life and animal rights, stating that no wool was featured on her runway this season. McCartney has been advocating for animal rights at fashion week for 30 years.

The designer has been developing alternatives to wool, such as Brewed Protein, a fermented alternative to cashmere and wool. This was created in collaboration with the Japanese biotech firm Spiber and first appeared in her collections a year ago.

McCartney's show, held in the gardens of the British embassy in Paris, featured ocean-inspired clothing, including fancy long-sleeved swimsuits and T-shirts with dolphins. The invitation included a video message from oceanographer Sylvia Earle.

McCartney commented on the issue of wool production, stating that while she believes shearing can be done humanely, much of current production is "deeply cruel." She also spoke about the consumption of fish, saying, "We are at war with the oceans, at war with the creatures that live in there."
