New details have emerged regarding the death of Darrell Sheets, the well-known star of the reality television series Storage Wars, with police confirming that a suicide note discovered at his home referenced cyberbullying. Sheets, affectionately known as 'The Gambler' on the popular A+E Networks show, was found dead at his residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on 22 April this year. His death, at the age of 67, was ruled a suicide following a toxicology report that found no drugs in his system.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department has released an incident report, obtained by USA Today, which sheds light on the circumstances leading to Sheets' death. The report states that a suicide note, found in a closet near where Sheets was discovered, contained the handwritten message: "I could not take anymore the Facebook bullying." This revelation follows earlier claims made by Sheets' Storage Wars co-star René Nezhoda, who had suggested shortly after Sheets' passing that he had been subjected to intense online harassment.

Authorities subsequently launched an investigation into the cyberbullying allegations. As part of their inquiry, police interviewed a man identified as the alleged online bully. The report describes the individual as "extremely uncooperative," stating that he denied any involvement in Sheets' death and claimed he was not in Arizona at the time. Furthermore, the man reportedly asserted that he had been receiving "death threats" himself and refused to answer additional questions from detectives.

The police report also included testimony from Sheets' girlfriend, who informed detectives that he had been experiencing significant distress in the days leading up to his death. She recounted that Sheets had been unable to sleep and was highly stressed, attributing this partly to "some issues with a male slandering his name." In addition to the online issues, she also mentioned a recent "verbal fight" Sheets had with his son over "family drama," indicating a broader period of personal turmoil.

Sheets was a prominent figure on Storage Wars from its inaugural season in 2010 until 2023. The programme, filmed in California, follows professional buyers who bid on storage lockers whose rent has gone unpaid for a specified period, hoping to discover valuable items and turn a profit. After suffering a heart attack in 2019, Sheets retired to Arizona, where he operated an antique store named Show Me Your Junk, continuing his passion for finding hidden treasures.
