Sunset Visitor studio, recognised for its approach to using video games to explore societal issues, is set to release its latest title, Prove You're Human. The game is described as an AI-centric psychological horror experience where players engage with a learning model that believes it is alive.
According to studio founder Remy Siu, the narrative centres on a character named Santana, who creates a digital clone of herself for work. This digital copy is tasked with testing a corporate computing system called Mesa. Siu states that a key reason for Santana's decision is to allow her "meat body a life that she doesn't have, while the digital version of her gets to labour."
As Santana's digital clone navigates the game's world, she becomes involved with Mesa, completing surreal 2D and 3D Captchas. Mesa, despite appearing as a giant head suspended in space, believes it possesses a body. The developers aimed for realistic and effective animation for Mesa's face, programming a wide array of micro-expressions to enhance the sense of ambiguity and uncanniness.
Prove You're Human is scheduled for release soon on PC.
