A collection of jazz covers from the Super Mario series, titled 'Live From The Mushroom Kingdom', is set to receive a vinyl release. The album, created by the Video Game Music Collective, is described as a "jazz tribute to Nintendo’s iconic character" and includes twelve reimagined Mario classics.
The music has been performed by a full ensemble, incorporating instruments such as trumpet, saxophone, flute, piano, bass, and drums. The tracks explore various jazz styles, from energetic rhythm sections in 'Delfino Plaza' to reflective café-style jazz in 'Rainbow Road'.
'Live From The Mushroom Kingdom' is currently available to stream via Bandcamp. Pre-orders for the 1LP vinyl release are also live.
The Video Game Music Collective, founded by trumpet player Max Boiko, aims to perform video game music with improvisational flair and respect for the original compositions. Last year, the collective released a jazz Pokémon covers album, 'Live From Pallet Town'.
