Several orthopaedic surgeons have specifically warned against exercises like deep-weighted squats and repeatedly taking the body to its end range under load, stating these can damage joints. One specialist reported seeing patients in their mid-20s and early 30s who had lost significant cartilage from under their kneecaps due to such activities.
