New research by Trade Door Handles has shed light on Britain's most exclusive property hotspots, where a staggering proportion of homes fetch over £1 million. Surrey is firmly at the forefront of this trend, with Cobham taking top spot as the postcode with the highest number of seven-figure sales – nearly half of all transactions in the area exceed this threshold.
Cobham's affluent residents are among the UK's best paid, with annual salaries typically exceeding £100,000. The area also boasts an impressive 84 private schools within a 10-mile radius and is home to several Michelin-starred restaurants. The typical property sale price in Cobham stands at approximately £1.3 million.
Esher and Virginia Water, both Surrey locations, ranked second and third respectively, with average sales prices of over £1 million and £1.53 million. Thames Ditton in Surrey and Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire also made the top five list, further illustrating the dominance of high-value properties in the Home Counties.
The study's findings highlight the ongoing attractiveness of commuter towns within a 30 to 40-minute journey from central London. While £1.5 million might secure a two-bedroom flat in some London postcodes, it could purchase a five- or six-bedroom house with garden and driveway in areas like Cobham or Virginia Water.
