Tottenham Hotspur secured an emphatic home win against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup, with new signing Sávio making a significant impact by scoring two goals on his debut. The victory comes after a 3-0 Premier League defeat at Brentford.
Mikey Moore opened the scoring for Spurs with a powerful strike, followed by a goal from Dominic Solanke. Substitute Kevin Danso also found the net before Sávio, a £75m signing from Manchester City, entered the match.
Sávio scored his first goal just 11 minutes after coming on, and later added a second. Charlton's Lloyd Jones scored a consolation goal from a corner. Manager Roberto Di Zerbi started several players who were only fit enough for the bench in the previous match, including Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mateus Fernandes, and Solanke.
