Swimmer Filip Nowacki delays A-level results after European gold win

Jersey's Filip Nowacki, 18, delayed opening his A-level results to focus on the European Aquatics Championships, where he won gold.

  • Filip Nowacki won gold in the men's 200m breaststroke at the European Aquatics Championships.
  • He previously won gold and silver at the Commonwealth Games, becoming Jersey's first medalist in 36 years.
  • Nowacki took A-levels in Economics, Mathematics, and Physics and plans to attend Loughborough University.

Filip Nowacki, an 18-year-old swimmer from Jersey, postponed opening his A-level results to concentrate on competing at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. On Thursday, he secured a gold medal in the men's 200m breaststroke final, finishing in two minutes 7.70 seconds.

Nowacki had previously made history for Jersey last month by winning gold in the 200m breaststroke and silver in the 100m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games. He studied Economics, Mathematics, and Physics for his A-levels.

Before his results were due, Nowacki stated he did not want to risk being distracted during the major competition. He plans to attend Loughborough University from September, joining their Swimming Performance Centre.
