A Swindon-based estate agency owner has made a dramatic career change, winding down his property business to become a full-time professional wrestler in Mexico. Callum Aslantepe, 29, who previously ran Aslan Real Estate, now performs under the ring name Prince Phoenix within Mexico's vibrant lucha libre wrestling scene.
The decision to fully embrace professional wrestling came after a successful tour of Mexico in 2025, which convinced Aslantepe to relocate permanently. He officially closed his estate agency, which specialised in residential properties across Wiltshire, in January of this year. Aslantepe highlighted the significant difference in audience sizes between UK and Mexican wrestling events, noting that while a good night in the UK might attract around 300 spectators, Mexican shows frequently draw thousands of fans.
Aslantepe's journey into wrestling began at a young age, training between nine and 15 at a Swindon wrestling school, now known as British Kingdom Pro Wrestling. He later stepped away from the sport to build a career in the property sector, eventually establishing his own agency. After a decade out of the ring, he returned to wrestling, competing across the South West and Wales, before securing the opportunity that led him to Mexico and a full-time career in the sport.
Lucha libre is a cornerstone of Mexican popular culture, with major events regularly attracting substantial crowds and its star wrestlers often achieving celebrity status. Aslantepe expressed his satisfaction with the demanding schedule, which often involved wrestling on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, coupled with extensive travel. He shared his childhood fascination with wrestling's 'bad guys' and how his character, Prince Phoenix, embodies a similar persona, stating, 'Prince Phoenix is a cool guy but I wouldn’t get on his bad side.'
