A 17-year-old girl has been killed following a sword attack at a school in Fagersta, Sweden, police have confirmed. The incident, which occurred during classes on Friday afternoon, also left three other people wounded.
Two boys, aged 12 and 17, sustained minor injuries. A third person, also under 18, received minor injuries and has since been discharged from hospital, according to Swedish news agency TT.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack at Brinell high school. Swedish police are investigating whether the suspect was involved in online communities that promote school violence.
Detectives are also examining a TikTok account that reportedly posted a picture of a sword 20 minutes before the attack. The image appeared to have been taken in a school restroom, as reported by Dagens Nyheter newspaper.
Prosecutors have ordered the man's detention on suspicion of murder and several counts of attempted murder.
