Nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder Alphadjo Cissè made a significant impact by scoring Milan's first goal in their 2-1 Serie A victory against Torino on Sunday. His performance came after manager Ruben Amorim had publicly praised the young player, stating, "I love Cissè. I love Cissè."
Cissè, who joined Milan from Verona in February after a loan spell at Catanzaro, started the match despite Milan's substantial summer spending. The club invested a record €74m in Gonçalo Ramos and €50m in Diego Moreira, with another €30m on Mario Gila.
Milan dominated possession in the first half but struggled to break down Torino. Cissè opened the scoring in the 64th minute, curling a half-volley into the far corner. Adrien Rabiot quickly added a second goal for Milan, though Torino's Ché Adams scored a late consolation goal.
Cissè, born in Treviso to Guinean parents, was one of several Italian teenagers to feature in Serie A's opening weekend, a potential shift from the historically scarce opportunities for young domestic talent in the league.
