Teenager found not guilty of murder after fatal stabbing in Chippenham

A 16-year-old boy has been acquitted of murder and manslaughter following the fatal stabbing of Shayne Hambakachere in January.

A 16-year-old boy has been found not guilty of murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of another teenager, Shayne Hambakachere. The verdict was returned by a jury at Bristol Crown Court after nearly 12 hours of deliberations.

The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, was also acquitted of manslaughter. Shayne Hambakachere, 16, was attacked on 31 January in Chippenham and died in hospital the following day.

The trial heard that Shayne had met the teenager in an alleyway to resolve an argument concerning stolen cannabis. Shayne, who was unarmed, was stabbed in the chest during the encounter.
