Sixteen-year-old Kit Bottomley, a singer-songwriter from Knebworth, Hertfordshire, is set to open for indie rock band The Libertines at the Hitchin Live festival. He discovered he had secured the support slot on the same day he received his GCSE results.
Bottomley will perform a mix of poetic lyrics, indie rock, and looping guitar at the Hitchin Live festival, which is expected to attract around 40,000 people. The Libertines, led by Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, are among the headliners at the open-air event.
The Hitchin Boys' School pupil has also been offered a place at The BRIT School, known for past pupils such as Adele and Amy Winehouse. Before starting in September, Bottomley is working on his debut four-track EP with writer-producer John Fortis.
Additionally, Bottomley is involved in a documentary exploring The Who's album Quadrophenia for Sadie Frost and Simon Jones's new production company. He is also starring in and performing some of the soundtrack for a new film titled Everything by director Joseph Dewey.
