The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has announced a decision not to refer the anticipated acquisition of Telegraph Media Group by RedBird IMI to a phase 2 investigation. This decision, made on 16 October 2026, also covers the anticipated acquisition by RB Investco Limited of Telegraph Media Group.
The reason given for this decision is that the mergers are no longer in progress or in contemplation. As part of this announcement, the Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) report has been published.
The CMA had previously delivered its reports on jurisdictional and competition matters to the Secretary of State on 11 March 2024.
