A Russian ballistic missile strike has killed at least 10 people and injured 100 at a drone exhibition near Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed. The attack occurred in the middle of the day, with Ukrainian air force spokesman Yuri Ihnat saying three ballistic missiles were involved, only one of which was intercepted.
The exhibition, which showcased drone technology, was attended by prominent members of the Ukrainian defence industry. Ukrainian officials have launched an investigation into the incident, with President Zelensky saying efforts were under way to establish who decided to hold the event and what safety measures were in place.
Meanwhile, Russian forces have been hit by Ukrainian strikes, with President Zelensky saying that a major military facility in the city of Kirov had been targeted. The facility supplies components for aircraft and missile equipment used in strikes against Ukraine.
The attacks on Russia come after months of drone strikes on oil depots and refineries, with Kyiv saying it is targeting logistics hubs to disrupt supplies to the Russian army. The UK Foreign Office advises against all travel to Ukraine, citing the ongoing conflict and potential risks to British nationals.
Ukrainian officials have confirmed that Defence Ministry adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov and Lyuba Shypovych, who have been involved in developing technology for the Ukrainian army, were not injured in the attack.
