Hearts have booked their place in the Conference League's main phase after a stunning penalty shootout victory away to Rapid Vienna. The Jambos overcame Tomas Magnusson's red card and two late equalisers to secure their spot in the competition.
The playoff round second leg saw Hearts reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute while trailing to Ercan Kara's first-half goal. However, substitute Landry Kaboré equalised just minutes later, sending the game to extra time.
Calvin Miller then volleyed 10-man Hearts ahead in the 100th minute, but Nenad Cvetkovic levelled for Rapid in the 119th minute, making the aggregate score 4-4 and forcing penalties. Hearts ultimately triumphed 4-3 in the shootout, with Beau Reus making two crucial saves.
This victory marks Hearts' return to the Conference League proper for the third time in five seasons, following a challenging run of European results earlier in the qualifiers.
