The historical significance of the site was brought to light in 2016 when property developers unearthed the foundations of the original radiotelegraph station. This discovery led to extensive collaboration with conservationists, archaeologists, and the Fine Arts Department, revealing hundreds of artefacts from the area's past inhabitants, including merchants, military cadets, and market stallholders. These findings are now preserved and showcased in the Wireless House Museum, which stands adjacent to the hotel, featuring a partial former radio mast as a nod to its heritage.
The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in collaboration with Thai firm A49, boasts 260 rooms, each featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of Lumphini Park and the dynamic cityscape. The interiors, crafted by Thai design studio PIA, artfully combine Bangkok's rich heritage with classic elegance, incorporating polished tiles, contemporary artworks, water features, and an abundance of marble and gold. Black-and-white photographs depicting old Bangkok further enhance this blend of past and present.
Guests can indulge in a range of world-class amenities, including a seventh-floor outdoor pool with coveted cabanas and ample loungers, providing a welcome respite from the city's heat. The spa offers traditional Thai massages, ideal after a day of exploring Bangkok. Culinary experiences are a highlight, with four bars and restaurants on offer. The standout is Duet by David Toutain, a 32-seat fine-dining restaurant located within a glasshouse on the seventh floor, overlooking Lumphini Park. Chef David Toutain, whose Paris restaurant holds two Michelin stars, and chef de cuisine Valentin Fouache present a modern French eight-course tasting menu, complete with wine or zero-proof pairings.
