A senseless act of violence has left a Melbourne community reeling after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in a shocking incident. The victim, Darweish Mohamed from Mickleham, was found critically injured outside Craigieburn Community Hospital in northern Melbourne at around 7:50 pm on Wednesday. Despite efforts by a member of hospital staff to administer CPR, he tragically passed away at the scene.
Three teenagers have now been charged in connection with Darweish's murder. A 14-year-old from Victoria's Hume area was arrested on Friday evening and subsequently charged with murder. He is due to appear before a children's court. Initially, two teenagers were taken into custody early on Thursday – a 16-year-old boy from the Goulburn Valley, who has been charged with murder and remains in custody awaiting a children's court appearance, and a 15-year-old boy from the Craigieburn area, who now faces a second charge of murder. A third suspect, also a teenager, was charged with affray and theft of a motor vehicle, but has been bailed to appear at a later date.
A burnt-out vehicle discovered at Oaklands Junction has been linked to the incident, while another 20-year-old man from Beveridge faces charges unrelated to Darweish's murder. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by family friend Mohamed Bakhit to cover funeral expenses, with over 54,000 Australian dollars raised towards a 60,000 Australian dollar goal by Saturday morning. Victoria's education department has confirmed it will provide support to affected school communities, acknowledging the devastating impact of this incident.
