The World Cup bronze medal match between England and France is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated games of the tournament – but it seems thousands of fans are still being priced out of this mouth-watering encounter. Despite England's promising position in the competition, a staggering 7,000 tickets for their showdown with Les Bleus on Saturday, July 19th, remain unsold across FIFA's official ticketing platforms.
The general sale section is brimming with 1,246 tickets available, priced between £657 and £855. Meanwhile, the official resale platform is awash with a whopping 5,864 tickets listed – including Category Three tickets that can be snatched up at face value (around £346), although a 15% FIFA fee will be added to this price.
But it's not just the cheap seats that are attracting attention. Many of the higher-priced tickets on the resale platform are being sold at significantly reduced rates, with some Category One tickets originally priced at around £855 now available for as little as £500 – a substantial discount for die-hard fans willing to take the plunge.
Even the highly anticipated World Cup final on Sunday hasn't reached complete sell-out status. Thirty-two of the most expensive standard tickets are still up for grabs, with prices ranging from approximately £22,796 to £25,057. And on the official resale site for the final, over a thousand tickets remain – some close to their face value plus the FIFA fee. The original price for some of these tickets was around £5,609, meaning a FIFA fee of approximately £841 would be added. One listing even boasts a single ticket priced at £1.52 million, plus a FIFA fee of £228,000 – although it's worth noting that resale prices are set by users and don't necessarily reflect actual transaction values.
With such a large number of tickets available for one of the biggest international fixtures of the tournament, it's hard not to wonder if demand has met expectations. While high travel costs undoubtedly play a role in deterring fans from making the trip to Miami, perhaps the price points have simply been too steep for many supporters' budgets. Whatever the reason, last-minute ticket hunters are being given an opportunity to secure their place at this thrilling encounter – and potentially snap up a bargain in the process.
