Three boys from Suffolk are set to represent the UK at the Pokemon World Championships in San Francisco later this month. Oliver, 15, Matthew, 14, and Oakley, nine, have qualified for the invite-only event, which takes place between 28 and 30 August.
Oliver and Matthew are due to compete in the Trading Card Game (TCG) competition, while Oakley will participate in the video game event. All three boys are ranked within the top 16 players in Europe.
The boys have trained together at Mulligan Game Cafe in Ipswich. Matthew said he was introduced to the trading cards in primary school, while Oakley's father introduced him to the video games. Oliver began playing the cards after being taught by his stepdad.
This will be Oakley's second time on the world stage, having competed last year and finishing in the top 16. It is also Oliver's second world event.
