Yellow thunderstorm warnings have been issued across parts of the UK, with heavy showers anticipated to lead to flash flooding and travel disruption. The Met Office warnings will come into force later on Wednesday for northern England, Northern Ireland, and eastern Scotland.

The warning for northern England is set to remain in place until Thursday morning. These downpours follow a period of almost two months of dry weather, with some areas experiencing their first rain in weeks on Tuesday.

The Met Office has advised people in affected areas to expect potential flooding of businesses and homes, delays to transport services, and likely power cuts. Specific timings for the warnings include Northern Ireland from 12:00 until 23:59 BST on Wednesday, parts of North East Scotland from 14:00 until 21:00 on Wednesday, and parts of the North of England from 19:00 until 10:00 on Thursday.

What this means for you: If you are in northern England, eastern Scotland, or Northern Ireland, you could experience flash flooding, travel delays, and power cuts.
