Golfer Tiger Woods is set to change his plea today in a Florida court, five months after his arrest on a charge of driving under the influence following a rollover crash in Martin County.
Mr Woods, 50, was arrested in March and subsequently pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to testing. Court records indicate the change of plea hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Following the incident, Mr Woods stated he was seeking treatment. Police body camera footage released in April showed him telling officers, "I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden, boom." He passed a breathalyser test but declined a urinalysis screening for other drugs, according to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek.
Officers suspected his "normal faculties" were impaired by an "unknown substance." Authorities later reported finding two white pills, identified as hydrocodone, in his pocket. No one was injured in the crash.
