A three-year-old boy from Doncaster potentially saved his mother's life by dialling 999 after she collapsed at home. Georgia, 28, lost consciousness while looking after her son James and baby daughter Elodie.
James, who had learned how to call 999 during a visit to the National Emergency Services Museum in Sheffield, spoke to a police call handler. The handler, Jen, adapted her communication style to keep James calm and understand the situation until Georgia regained consciousness.
Georgia had fainted due to postural hypotension and dehydration. South Yorkshire Police officers attended the family home in Hatfield and later returned to present James with a toy helicopter in recognition of his decision-making.
Georgia and her partner are encouraging other parents to discuss calling 999 with their children for emergencies.
