A Major League Soccer match between Minnesota United and San Jose Earthquakes was halted on Saturday after a toddler wandered onto the pitch. The incident took place at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, with a minute and a half left in the game, which Minnesota United won 5-1.
An Apple TV analyst, Kyndra de St Aubin, was heard saying, “There’s a baby on the field” during the broadcast. The referee blew his whistle to stop play, and a stadium official subsequently removed the child from the field.
This marks the third reported instance since 2021 of a child invading the pitch during an MLS match. Previous incidents include a baby entering the field during a DC United versus Chicago Fire match in June 2025, and a two-year-old being collected by his mother from the pitch during an FC Cincinnati versus Orlando City FC game in 2021.
Following the match, Minnesota United's X account posted a message stating that their decisive win over San Jose was “Like taking money from a baby.”
