Tony Romo, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS Sports analyst, remains on indefinite leave from the network following his arrest on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. CBS Sports president David Berson confirmed the 46-year-old analyst's status on Tuesday at "NFL on CBS" Media Day, stating there is no timetable for a final decision.
Romo was arrested on July 23 in Milwaukee after allegedly performing poorly on field sobriety tests and was later cited for refusing an intoxication test. Deputies reportedly found an "open bottle of an alcoholic beverage" in his Jeep. CBS placed Romo on leave "until further notice" on July 31.
Berson explained the decision to bench Romo before his legal case is resolved, citing the network's need to "consider the impact on our image and our brand." J.J. Watt has since taken over as CBS' lead analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz.
