Tottenham's Antonin Kinsky has sealed a new deal, putting pen to paper on an improved contract with the Premier League side. It's been a whirlwind ride for the 23-year-old goalkeeper, marked by highs and lows in his maiden full season at the club. And what a turnaround it's been under the guidance of Roberto de Zerbi!
Kinsky's campaign was marred by that calamitous Champions League last-16 tie against Atletico Madrid in March. Just 17 minutes into the match, he was yanked off after conceding three goals – and the rest, as they say, is history. Interim manager Igor Tudor's decision to substitute him for Guglielmo Vicario sparked a media frenzy, with none other than Peter Schmeichel warning that it could 'destroy his career' at the time.
But de Zerbi's arrival proved to be a masterstroke – and Kinsky was back in the driving seat for the final seven Premier League matches. He played a starring role as Tottenham battled to avoid relegation, earning rave reviews from his manager and the club's hierarchy in the process. And it seems that was just the icing on the cake – an enhanced contract was always on the cards.
"It's been a real journey to get here," Kinsky beamed, "and I'm thrilled with this new chapter. Looking forward to what lies ahead over the next months and years!" His sentiments were echoed by de Zerbi, who declared: "Toni was outstanding over those final seven games – and a key part of our success in that period. He's earned this new contract, no question, both on the pitch and with his professionalism."
Tottenham shelled out £12.5 million to sign Kinsky from Slavia Prague back in January 2025 – and he was initially locked down until 2031. Now, with Vicario linked with a move to Inter Milan, it's likely Kinsky will be first-choice for the upcoming season.
"We've got huge faith in Toni," de Zerbi insisted. "He's still young, yet packed with potential. And we know he'll continue to grow and develop into one of Europe's top goalkeepers here at Spurs." It's a bold statement – but one that suggests Kinsky is set for a bright future at the North London club.
