Tovala has developed a smart oven designed to automate the cooking process for its meal-delivery service and compatible grocery items. The system allows users to scan QR codes on Tovala meals or barcodes on certain grocery products, enabling the oven to automatically adjust temperatures and cooking modes.
The smart oven, available in a regular model for $299 and a Smart Oven Pro with a steam function for $349, can bake, broil, air fry, toast, and reheat. Tovala's meal service offers more than 45 meal choices each week, with plans for 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 16 meals. Single-serving meals start at $13.99, and two-serving meals begin at approximately $8.99 per serving, plus a $10.99 shipping fee. Family-sized meals were recently introduced, starting at $35.96.
David Rabie, Tovala co-founder and CEO, stated that the idea for the system came from his own desire for a convenient, home-cooked meal experience. While some dishes may require additional finishing, such as searing meat, the oven's ability to recognise and cook grocery items extends its utility beyond Tovala-branded meals.
