The report considers the future of the Traffic Commissioners, driver welfare, road safety strategy, and smarter regulation. It also discusses Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations (PSVAR), the Bus Open Data Service (BODS), AI, and maintenance recognition schemes.
A spokesperson for the Traffic Commissioners stated that approaching their 100th anniversary is an opportunity to consider how the regulatory system continues to serve the public interest. They added that their role is to deliver proportionate, evidence-based decisions that promote road safety and fair competition in both Goods and Public Service Vehicle sectors.
